Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has directed Revenue Minister Pramila Mallick and Special Relief Commissioner Satyabrata Sahu to reach Panapana near Bahanaga in Balasore district of Odisha in the wake of a train accident today evening.

The Chief Minister also sent senior IAS officers Hemant Sharma and Balwant Singh and Director General of Fire Services Sudhanshu Sarangi to the spot to supervise the rescue operation.

The state government, meanwhile, directed the authorities of SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, Balasore Medical College and the hospitals of three districts to make arrangements for the treatment of the injured passengers.

According to sources, At least 200 passengers were injured and several passengers feared dead as Chennai-bound Coromandel Express (12841) collided with Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express (12864) at Panapana near Bahanaga station in Balasore district today.

According to sources, two coaches of Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express derailed at Panapana at around 7.08 pm. Coromandel Express, which was passing on the route, collided with the derailed coaches.
