Transfer Srimandir’s deposits in Yes Bank to UCO Bank, SJTA head urges RBI

Bhubaneswar: Amid concern raised by many over the safety of deposits of Puri Srimandir in crisis-hit Yes Bank, Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Chief Administrator Krishan Kumar has written to the RBI for transfer of Rs 545 crore deposited by it in Yes Bank to UCO Bank, Main Branch, Puri.

“An amount of Rs 545 crore has been deposited by the Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee in Yes Bank, Puri in shape of TDRs. These deposits are maturing in the month of March, 2020 itself. The Managing Committee had taken a decision for withdrawal of all the deposits from Yes bank after their maturity and keep the same in a Nationalized Bank,” Kumar mentioned in a letter to the Regional Director, RBI, Bhubaneswar.

In the meantime, Yes Bank Ltd has been placed under Moratorium by Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and certain restrictions have been imposed by RBI for withdrawal of funds from Yes Bank, he said in the letter.

Kumar urged the Regional Director of RBI to issue necessary directions to management of Yes Bank for crediting all investments along with interest dues to SJTA’s UCO Bank account.
