Trends indicate BJP heading for clean sweep in Lok Sabha polls in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Candidates of the BJP are leading in 19 Lok Sabha seats of the total 21 in Odisha.

BJP candidates Dharmendra Pradhan (Sambalpur), Pradeep Purohit (Bargarh), Jual Oram (Sundargarh), Ananta Nayak (Keonjhar), Naba Charan Majhi (Mayurbhanj), Pratap Sarangi (Balasore), Abhimanyu Sethi (Bhadrak), Rudra Narayan Pany (Dhenkanal), Sangeeta Kumari Singh Deo (Balangir), Malvika Devi (Kalahandi), Balabhadra Majhi (Nabarangpur), Bhartruhari Mahtab (Cuttack), Baijayant Panda (Kendrapara), Bibhu Prasad Tarai (Jagatsinghpur), Sambit Patra (Puri), Aparajita Sarangi (Bhubaneswar), Anita Subhadarshini (Aska), Pradeep Kumar Panigrahy (Berhampur) and Sukanta Kumar Panigrahi (Kandhamal) are leading over their nearest rivals.

The BJD and Congress candidates are leading from 1 Lok Sabha seat each.

Sarmistha Sethi of BJD is leading from Jajpur Lok Sabha seat by 5,491 votes while Saptagiri Ulaka of Congress is ahead in Koraput seat by 20,472 votes.

All 21 Lok Sabha constituencies in Odisha went for polls in four phases on May 13, May 20, May 25 and June 1.

Notably, the BJD had won 12 Lok Sabha seats in Odisha in 2019 while the BJP got 8 seats and the Congress party one.
