The test run was conducted in the presence of senior Railway officials at 2.15 pm.

“Before a railway line is commissioned, Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) certifies it. The test run was conducted in the presence of CRS and Deputy CRS today. It all depends on their report,” a Railway official said.

Scores of local people had assembled along the railway line to witness the train chugging along the track.

“We are happy that our longstanding dream will come true. We would be happy if the services start at the earliest so that we can commute in train,” a local resident expressed.

A similar trial run of the engine on July 31 along the stretch. This is the second such trial on the route.

It may be recalled that the train service along the Khurda Road-Bolangir railway line project has been completed upto Raj Sunakhala. The passenger train till Raj Sunakhala was flagged off in November last year.

Notably, Union Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu had flagged off the first-ever train to run on the 32 km stretch of Khurda Road-Begunia section of the Khurda-Bolangir track at Begunia station on July 16 last year.
