Tribal girl gang-raped in Odisha’s Deogarh

Deogarh: A 22-year-old tribal girl was allegedly gang-raped by three persons in Odisha’s Deogarh district yesterday.

As per a police complaint lodged by the victim, the girl had on Sunday morning gone to the backyard of her house when one Ajit Badaik and his two friends hailing from Rourkela forcibly took her to a nearby forest.

The trio allegedly raped the girl at the forest and threatened to kill her if she dared to disclose about the incident to anyone. The victim, however, mustered courage and narrated the ordeal to her parents, following which an FIR was lodged at the Deogarh police station.

Acting on the complaint, police registered a case and raids were being conducted at various places to apprehend the accused.
