Tribal stir in Rourkela: Seven trains diverted on Odisha route

In view of the indefinite agitation launched by the tribals in Rourkela in Odisha’s Sundargarh district today in protest against the decision of the state government to give corporation status to the city municipality, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) has decided to divert seven inter-state express trains and short-terminate three intra-state inter-city trains to ensure the safety of the passengers.

As per an ECoR release today, 12221 Pune-Howrah Duronto Express would be diverted via Sambalpur-Angul-Kapilash Road-Bhadrak route, while 12890 Yesvantpur-Tata Express would be diverted via Angul-Kapilash Road-Jakapura-Jaroli route.

Besides, 18006 Jagdalpur-Howrah Samaleswari Express would be diverted via Angul-Kapilash Road-Bhadrak route and 13352 Alleppey-Dhanbad Express would be diverted via Vizianagaram-Bhubaneswar-Jakhapura-Jaroli route.

This apart, 12832 Bhubaneswar-Dhanbad Garib Rath Express would be diverted via Jakhpura-Jaroli route while 18452 Puri-Hatia Tapaswini Express and 18638 Yesvantpur-Hatia Express trains would be diverted via Jakhpura-Jaroli road.

ECoR has also decided to short-terminate three intra-state trains following the agitation.

18106 Bhubaneswar-Rourkela Inter City Express would be short-terminated at Sambalpur city and will remain cancelled between Sambalpur city and Rourkela while 18108 Koraput-Rourkela Inter City and Puri Rourkela Fast Passenger train would be short-terminated at Sambalpur and will remain cancelled between Sambalpur and Rourkela, the release added.
