Cuttack: Trouble mounted for Tirtol MLA Bijay Shankar Das as his estranged girlfriend Somalika Dash today filed a complaint against the registration of marriage application reportedly submitted by the BJD legislator.
Somalika lodged the complaint at the District Registration Office in Cuttack against the application that Bijay Shankar had filed to register his marriage with another woman.
"As I am still waiting for the justice, how can he marry someone without anyone's notice? When the matter is sub-judice, the legislator is applying for marriage registration with another woman," alleged Somalika.
"I have filed a complaint objecting to the application submitted by Bijay Shankar for registration of his marriage," she said.
She alleged 'police inaction' and 'mental harassment' by police in the case registered against MLA Bijay Shankar.
"I am roaming around police station and court. And my statements are being recorded several times by the police. Three IICs have been changed at Jagatsinghpur Police Station in the case. Two of them have been transferred with promotion. No action has been taken by the police. Not a single time, the accused has been asked for appearance at the police station for questioning in the case. As Bijay Shankar is the MLA of the ruling party, he is using his power. If he was a common citizen, he could have been arrested," she told media persons.
According to reports, Bijay Shankar is planning to marry a woman namely Pratyusha Nanda, a resident of Cuttack city. To register the marriage, he had submitted the application at the Office of the Registrar of Marriage, Cuttack, on September 21.
As per allegations by Somalika, Bijay Shankr and she had applied for marriage at the office of the sub-registrar in the district earlier. However, he did not turn up for the marriage at a local court in Jagatsinghpur.
She further accused the MLA of running a sex racket.
She alleged that the accused was operating a sex racket, brothel and sabotaged the lives of many young girls. He compelled the innocent girls in the sex racket and benefited from this business. The money collected through the sex racket was used by him for election and poll related expenses.
Alleging police inaction, Somalika had moved the Orissa High Court seeking registration of case against the legislator.
The High Court had directed the Jagatsinghpur police station IIC to register a case against the MLA.
