Truck carrying Odia migrants overturns in Maharashtra

Bhubaneswar: At least three labourers were injured after a truck with stranded Odia migrants overturned near Nashik in Maharashtra on Thursday.

The identities of victims  are yet to be ascertained.

According to reports, over 50 migrant labourers from Odisha stranded in Maharashtra amid lockdown were travelling in the truck to home state. The truck met an accident near Ghoti-Sinnar highway in Nashik district of Maharashtra today.

Following the mishap, the truck driver fled from the spot. However, the locals managed to nab another person (cleaner) of the truck and handed him over to the police.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the labourers were charged Rs 4,000 each for carrying them in the truck to Odisha.
