Truck driver falls into river in Odisha’s Paradip, rescue operation on

Paradip: Driver of a truck reportedly fell into Mahanadi river from Bhutamundai bridge in Odisha’s Paradip town last evening after being hit by a vehicle and went missing.

Family members of the truck driver, identified as Alekha Naik of Khamar village in Angul district, have lodged an FIR in this regard at the Paradip police station.

“He (Alekha) parked the truck on the bridge and told me that he was going out for attending nature’s call. As soon as he alighted from the truck, a speeding SUV hit him following which he fell into the river,” said the conductor of the truck who has been detained by police for questioning.

On the other hand, an ODRAF team and Fire personnel have initiated rescue operation to trace and rescue the driver. Till last reports came in, he was yet to be traced.
