Rayagada: The officials of the Motor Vehicle department today imposed a penalty of Rs 1,10,800 on a truck driver for allegedly violating traffic rules under the Motor Vehicles Act in Rayagada district today.
As per an official of the Motor Vehicle department, the truck driver was not having the required road permit and tax. The truck bearing registration number AP-31-TW-3249 was carrying timbers to JK Paper Mills from Andhra Pradesh.
Yesterday the State Transport Authority, Odisha asked Collectors, SPs and DCPs (Traffic) to enforce road safety rules across the State from March 1, 2020. In a letter, Transport Commissioner Sanjeeb Panda directed the officials to carry out strict enforcement against dangerous life threatening road safety violations.
The officials have been asked to check drunken driving, driving at a speed exceeding the specified limit (over speeding), red light jumping, driving against flow of traffic, using mobile while driving, dangerous driving, triple riding on two-wheeler, helmetless driving, not wearing seat belt and overloading.
