Bhadrak: In a tragic mishap, a helper of an iron-ore laden truck died after he was hit by a hyva while repairing his vehicle's flat tyre in Basudevpur in Odisha's Bhadrak district on Tuesday night. The incident took place near Mandari when the iron ore-laden trailer was parked alongside the main road for a tyre change.
As per reports, the trailer was heading from Keonjhar to Dhamra port when it suffered a flat tyre. As the driver halted the vehicle near Mandari pole, his helper got down and was changing the tyre when a speeding chips-laden Hyva rammed into the trailer from behind. While the helper died on the spot, the driver of the Hyva suffered critical injuries in the collision.
Locals rushed the injured driver to Basudevpur community health centre for treatment. On getting information, police reached the spot and started investigation. A case has been registered and probe is underway.
The identity of the deceased and the injured truck driver are yet to be ascertained, official sources informed.
