Truck swept away by flood water in Odisha

Malkangiri: A truck was swept away by flood water when the vehicle was trying to cross the Kangurukonda bridge under Kalimela block of Malkangiri district today. However, the truck driver and helper were rescued by locals.

As per reports, the truck going towards Andhra Pradesh was stranded on NH-325 near the bridge for quite long hours. Though water did not recede on bridge following incessant rains, the truck driver and helper decided to cross it.

The truck driver and helper tried to drive the vehicle when around five feet water was flowing above the bridge, an eyewitness said.

But in the middle of the bridge, the truck was swept away by the strong current of flood water. The driver and helper somehow managed to come out of the submerged vehicle.

Locals with the help of a small boat then rescued the driver and helper and admitted them to Kalimela Community Health Centre.
