Truck Terminal woman’s death case: Accused arrested in Odisha’s Cuttack

Cuttack: Days after a married woman was allegedly killed at a truck terminal in Jagatpur area of Odisha’s Cuttack, police claimed to have cracked the case with the arrest of one person here today. The accused, a transgender identified as Sumant Kumar Jena alias Priya had reportedly strangled the woman with her saree over past enmity.

The deceased Kuni Sahu had gone missing on February 7 night after which her her husband had filed a missing complaint with Jagatpur police.  She was found dead at the truck terminal the next day after which police had recovered the body for post-mortem and initiated an investigation.

Following Priya’s arrest, police addressed mediapersons and informed that the accused confessed to the crime and gave details of how the crime was carried out. “The accused has been arrested in connection to the death of a woman at truck terminal 8. Investigation revealed that the woman, a resident of a slum nearby was strangled to death,” Cuttack DCP Pinak Mishra informed.
