‘Tulasi Apa’ to be screened at Tehran film festival

The award-winning biographical movie ‘Tulasi Apa’ would be screened at the 4th edition of the Tehran Jasmine International Film Festival (TJIFF) from October 30. The biopic on Odisha-based social activist— Tulasi Munda— is the only entry from the state to be screened at Ramsar.

The movie from the stable of Amiya Patnaik Productions would be screened during the five-day international film festival.

“It is indeed a matter of pride for us and Odisha as the movie has been selected to be screened at various national and international film festivals. It has scripted a new chapter in the field of biopic movies,” Anupam Patnaik said.

Notably, debutant producer Anupam Patnaik’s movie has received many appreciation and awards in the recent past.

The movie was adjudged the ‘Best Feature Film’ at the second edition of International Film Festival of Shimla (IFFS). Besides, the movie was screened at 1st Haryana International Film Festival-2016 where the debutante Barsha Nayak won the Best Actress award in the Feature Film Category.

The cast of the film includes: Barsha Nayak, Madhusmita, Lochani Bag, Premanjan Parida, Mamata Panda and Sujit Paikray.

The movie, which encapsulates various struggles and achievements of the Padmashree awardee, has been shot in her birthplace as well as various parts of Keonjhar.

Earlier, the movie has been screened at prestigious film festivals like 21st Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF), 8th Bengaluru International Film Festival (BIFFES) and 8thNasik International Film Festival.
