Tusker electrocuted in boar trap in Odisha’s Angul

Angul: A tusker died after coming in contact with an electrically charged fence installed for trapping wild boar at a forest near Laxmipur village under Handapa Range in Odisha’s Angul district, today.

According to reports, 11 KV Galvanized Iron (GI) wires were placed in the forest for poaching boar and other wild animals. The elephant, whose age is estimated to be 25 years, died after coming in contact with the live wire.

On being informed, Forest officials reached the spot and started investigation. Later, the carcass was buried at the forest after autopsy. The officials have detained a person for questioning in this connection.
