Tusker found dead in Odisha on World Elephant Day

Sambalpur: A tusker was found dead near Digajharana village under Jujumura block of Odisha’s Sambalpur district today on World Elephant Day.

Locals spotted the carcass this morning and informed the Forest officials. The ailing pachyderm was roaming in the nearby forest for the last few days, villagers said, adding that though they had informed the officials about the incident three days ago, no step was taken in this regard.

The reason behind the death of the animal can be ascertained after an autopsy, an official said.
