Tusker tramples man to death in Odisha’s Bargarh; locals panic

Bheden: A man was trampled to death by a tusker today morning at Jharania Tikra village under Attabira block and Bheden locality of Bargarh district.

The deceased man was identified as Sibilal Suna, who belonged to Kouthamal village.

According to a source, some labourers from Kouthamal were on their way to a canal construction site when they were confronted by the tusker. Other labourers could manage to escape. However, Sibilal was trampled leading to his untimely death.

“A jumbo has trespassed into human settlement and the pachyderm has been roaming in the nearby villages for the last few days. In a ravaging spree, the elephant destroyed several farmlands and attacked human beings. We are now in a state of panicky,” some residents expressed.
