Tusker tramples woman to death in Odisha

Keonjhar, Sep 12:
In yet another incident of elephant attack, a woman was crushed to death by a tusker on Sunday night in Odisha’s Keonjhar district.
The deceased has been identified as Jamuna Dehuri of Kashada village under Bhuyan Juanga Pitha forest range in the district.
According to reports, Jamuna encountered a pachyderm last night on her way back home near Kashada village. She was trampled to death by the wild animal.
Forest officials reached the spot and rushed her to Keonjhar District Headquarters Hospital. However, she was declared dead on arrival by the attending doctors.
Following the incident, the villagers this morning gheraoed the Ranger’s office demanding compensation. The agitators were pacified after assurance by the officials to provide financial aid.
