Tusker tramples woman to death in Odisha’s Angul

Angul: A woman was killed after being attacked by an elephant and another sustained injuries at a forest near Talamandali in Chhendipada area of Odisha’s Angul district today.

According to reports, three women of the locality, including deceased Debaki Pradhan and injured Labanga Dehury, had gone to a nearby forest for collecting Mahula and leaves for a religious event when a tusker attacked the trio.

The pachyderm trampled Debaki to death on the spot while Labanga was injured and later hospitalised. Another woman, identified as Shanti Pradhan, managed to escape unhurt and informed the villagers about the incident, following which locals rushed to the spot.
