Tutor held for ‘sexual abuse’ of girl student in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: A private tutor was arrested yesterday for allegedly ‘sexually abusing’ a class 9 girl student here.

The accused was identified as Pradip Kumar Sahu (43) of Khallikote area of Ganjam district. He was staying in Bhubaneswar.

According to reports, the victim of Jharpada locality was regularly visiting Pradip’s house located at Stage-1 in Laxmisagar for tuition. The tutor had asked her to visit his house for teaching on a holiday. When she reached his house, Pradip allegedly started ‘sexually abusing’ her instead of teaching.

The victim informed about the incident to her family following which a complaint was lodged at the Laxmisagar Police Station.

A probe was launched based on the complaint. The police arrested him on Tuesday and later produced him before a local court.
