A Good Samaritan’s tweet to Odisha Chief Minister’s Office resulted in the arrest of three child traffickers and rescue of five minors.

The Good Samaritan identified as Amit Nanda, who was travelling in the same bus in which the children were being trafficked, tweeted to CMO drawing its immediate attention to the incident.

Following this, the CMO retweeted it to Berhampur police owing which police swung into action and Phulbani police rescued the five minors. Besides, three traffickers were also arrested.

Chief Minister hailed the swift action of the police and Amit for the tip-off.

Notably, the traffickers were en route to Sambalpur when police intercepted the vehicle at Phulbani leading to their arrest yesterday. The accused were taking these children to work in a bread factory in Jharsuguda.

The accused have been identified as Badiyanarayan Das from Jhitikabali village under Kabisuryanagar police limits, Bulu Nayak from Juanga village under Dangapur police limits and Santosh Padhi from Nuagada village under Sorada police limits.

The rescued belong to Sorada area in Ganjam district. They are now being kept at a shelter home in Phulbani.
