Paradip: Odisha excise department arrested two youth belonging to BJD student wing for alleged drug trafficking in Jagatsinghpur district.

A team of excise sleuths seized 83 gram brown sugar during raid and apprehended two Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD) activists for their involvement in the illegal trade. The value of seized drug is estimated to be Rs 8.30 lakh.

The accused persons have been identified as Chandrakant Mahali and Rakesh Kumar Swain, both from Lakapada area in Paradip. The duo is holding key positions like vice president and general secretary in the student wing of ruling BJD.

The probe is underway after registering a case against the duo under various sections of NDPS Act.

Sources said that the two arrested BCJD members are key associates of BJD leader and Paradip MLA Sambit Routray.

Speaking over arrest of two BCJD members in drug trafficking case, BJP leader Sampad Swain said BJD's criminal connections are coming to fore day by day. Recently, BJD appointed gangster Tito's aide Bapu Parida to the post of party's district vice president. There are many criminals in the party in Paradip who will be exposed later.
