Police arrested Nitushree and Biswajit after interrogating them in connection with the death of Ritesh Choudhary (20), who was found dead in front of his landlady’s house in GGP Colony here on October 16. The parents of Choudhary had filed an FIR in this regard.

Initially, the police had registered a case of unnatural death in the matter, but later converted it to a case of culpable homicide after getting some clues.

While the landlady of Ritesh, with whom he was living as paying guest, had told media persons that his death had occurred after falling from the roof of her three storied building, the police later found that the real story was quite different.

Acting on the allegations made by friends and parents of Ritesh, a native of Phulbani, that he died after being pushed from the roof, police started investigation into the case afresh resulting in today’s arrests. The two accused persons were present at the spot when the incident happened, police have found during investigation.

Police suspect that Ritesh’s death was the result of a love triangle. There was a fight between Nitushree and Biswajit on the one hand and Ritesh on the other on the day of the incident. Nitushree, who was earlier in love with Ritesh, had dumped him in favour of Biswajit, police sources said.

Charges under section 304 (Culpable Homicide) have been slapped against the accused and they were fowarded to a local court here today.
