Two children from Odisha to get National Bravery Award

Bhubaneswar: Two children from Odisha — Mamata Dalai and Pankaj Mohanta — were selected to receive National Bravery Award for showing enough courage and chivalry at their little age.

The National Bravery Award will be presented to total 18 children including 7 girls and 11 boys, announced the Indian Council for Child Welfare (ICCW).

Mamata and Pankaj were among 18 children who were selected for the award.

Mamata, a 7-year-old girl of Bankual village under Rajanagar block in Kendrapara district, had rescued her sibling from crocodile last year.

Similarly, the 14-year-old Pankaj from Keonjhar district had shown his chivalry by saving three women from drowning in the Baitarani River.

All the brave children will be conferred the National Bravery Award by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 24. They will also attend the parade as the special guests on the occasion of Republic Day on January 26.
