Two days after Odisha Health Minister’s murder, Jharsuguda SP, Brajarajnagar SDPO transferred

Cuttack: A couple of days after the barbaric gun attack on Odisha Health Minister Naba Kishore Das in Brajarajnagar of Jharsuguda, Director General of Police (DGP) Sunil Bansal today transferred the district Superintendent of Police (SP) Rahul Jain to the police headquarters in Cuttack.

Accordingly, the present SP of Bargarh Parmar Smit Parshottamdas has been transferred to Jharsuguda in place of Jain. The SP of Boudh Prahalad Sahai Meena has been placed as SP of Bargarh and Additional SP of Rayagada Raj Prasad has been placed as SP of Boudh, a notification read.

Similarly, Brajarajnagar SDPO Gupteswar Bhoi has also been transferred and attached to the State police headquarters here. Present SDPO of Athamalik in Angul district Chintamani Pradhan has been transferred as the SDPO of Brajarajnagar in place of Bhoi, the notification stated.

It is pertinent to mention that the firing took place when the minister alighted from a car to attend an inauguration programme and his supporters were garlanding him. He sustained bullet injuries on his chest. The incident was caught on cameras.

Accused Gopal Krushna Das, an ASI, was immediately overpowered and nabbed and detained by police for questioning. Besides, Odisha Crime Branch was directed to probe into the incident, which is underway.

The minister was rescued and rushed to Jharsuguda District Headquarters Hospital (DHH). He was later airlifted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar after his condition deteriorated.

The Health Minister Das succumbed to severe bullet injuries while undergoing treatment.
