The honorary wildlife officials of Khurda-Puri division on Wednesday detained two persons for interrogation for their alleged involvement of selling protected birds.
Acting on a tip-off, S Mallik and Guhar Abedin, honorary wildlife wardens of Khurda-Puri division today caught two persons near the Pipili by-pass in Puri district for selling protected bird species like the Myna ( Mynah ) and Parrot.
They have seized 11 male and female myna birds, besides three parrots from their possession.
Selling of these birds is illegal as these are scheduled birds under the Wildlife Protection Act 1972.
