Two jawans of the District Voluntary Force (DVF) today sustained critical injuries during a drill exercise at the camp situated on Nuapada police station premises after an assault rifle went off inadvertently.

According to reports, the trigger of an AK-47 gun got pulled accidentally while the jawans were engaged in routine drill. Following this, two personnel were injured and rushed to a hospital in Raipur.

The mishap took place barely hours ahead of combing operation against the Maoists at night.

Around 25 DVF jawans were participating in the mock exercise when the incident took place.
