Two Forest officials suspended over leopard’s death in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Bargarh DFO today suspended two officials of the Forest Department in connection with the death of a leopard near Khajuria village under Bhatli police limits in the district.

The suspended officials are Kamgaon Forester Parshuram Behera and Hajuripada Forest Guard Prabhashini Mahananda. The action has been taken against the two for dereliction of duty, official sources said.

The leopard was allegedly electrocuted by poachers. The incident came to fore on October 28 when Forest officials of Hirakud Wildlife Division came across the decomposed carcass in a trench.

The National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) has sought a report on the death of the animal.
