Two friends meet watery grave in Odisha’s Bhadrak

Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, two friends drowned in a pond while washing their hands at Dhamnagar in Bhadrak district of Odisha today.

The deceased have been identified as Kamal Lochan Mallick, son of Sudhir Mallick and Mukesh Giri, son of Premanand Giri of Shyampur Mauza under Dhamnagar Notified Area Council (NAC), sources said.

Kamal and Mukesh slipped into the pond while washing their hands after partaking Prasad at a religious ceremony in the locality, sources said.

The villagers rescued the duo in a critical condition and rushed them to Dhamnagar Community Health Centre (CHC), where the doctors declared them dead on arrival.

Notably, three college students drowned in Nalia river in Bhadrak district while taking bath a few days ago.
