Bhubaneswar, Jul 7:
Government Railway Police (GRP), with the help of Khurda Childline, rescued six minors, including two from Odisha, from Bhubaneswar Railway station while they were being trafficked to Chennai by train today.
Police also detained two traffickers for interrogation in the case.
The two Odia among the six minor children rescued hail from Konark area while the other four are from Jharkhand. All are male children in the age group of 12-15 years.
Police rescued the minors from the Bhubaneswar railway platform while the traffickers were trying to take them by train to Chennai to engage them in hotels, construction work and brick kilns as child labourers, informed childline head Benudhar Senapati.
OST's efforts to contact GRP personnel for details of the case and the detainees proved futile.
