Two hotels served closure notice in Odisha Capital

Bhubaneswar: Officials of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) today served closure notices to two hotels in Bhubaneswar for violating COVID-19 guidelines.

During a surprise visit the BMC officials found two hotels located behind the BDA office in Kharvel Nagar were serving food to customers inside its dining space at around 1 PM. After finding the two hotels violating the COVID-19 guidelines, the BMC officials issued them closure notice and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 each. The two hotels will remain closed for seven days.

“After obtaining satisfactory undertaking from hotel owners, the BMC Commissioner would consider opening of the hotels,” said Zonal Deputy Commissioner Ansuman Ratha.

As per the COVID-19 guidelines, hotels are allowed to provide food for takeaways only. The government is yet to relax the norms for eateries and hotels.

Ratha added the team under ZDC SE zone has given closure notice keeping the health interest of citizens and to prevent spread of the disease.

The BMC officials also sensitized the public about the virus and measures to prevent the spread of the virus.
