Two Indian Navy warships arrive at Paradip port for public view

Paradip: Two warships INS Sumedha and INS Tihayu arrived here today in Odisha to attract the youths to join the Indian Navy.

The two Indian warships will be halted at the port for two days allowing the students and public to visit the ships.

The INS Sumedha and Tihayu reached the Paradip port in the morning.

The INS Sumedha, an indigenously designed and built by Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL), was commissioned into the Indian Navy on March 7, 2014. The 105-metre vessel is a significant milestone in the nation’s journey towards indigenisation and self-reliance.

Similarly, the Indian Navy had commissioned INS Tihayu at the Eastern Naval Command on October 19, 2016. It is one of the fastest moving warships in the world. Built by the Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd (GRSE) under the country’s Make in India initiative, the 320-tonne INS Tihayu, measuring 49 meters can achieve speeds in excess of 35 knots.
