Two Killed in road mishap in Odisha’s Bolangir

Bolangir, Oct 23:

Two persons were killed in a road mishap when a two-wheeler in which they were travelling collided head-on with a microvan at Sara Muhana near Patanagarh in Bolangir district today.

While the biker died on the spot, the pillion rider succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital.

Following the incident, local villagers put up a road blockade demanding compensation to the family members of the deceased.

Informed about the incident, the sub-collector and senior police officials reached the spot and persuaded the aggrieved locals to lift blockade. The villagers squatting on the road withdrew their agitation after the officials assured them to provide assistance.

“The families will be provided financial assistance under Harishchandra Yojna. Besides, they will be given additional assistance as they come under BPL category,” Patnagarh Sub-Collector Sarat Chandra Panda said.
