Two minors held for killing elderly woman over sorcery suspicion in Odisha

Keonjhar: The police today detained two minors including a girl for allegedly hacking an elderly woman to death on suspicion of practising witchcraft in Odisha’s Keonjhar district.

A police official said the two minors have been detained for questioning. They will be produced before a Juvenile court tomorrow.

The elderly woman, identified as Kuni Munda (65) was staying alone in Munda Sahi of Bholabeda village under Dhenkikote police outpost. The two minors from the village killed Kuni at her house with an axe late last night.

As per reports, the minor boy suspected the elderly woman practising witchcraft when his parents died a few days back. Similarly, after the minor girl’s mother fell ill during past eight months she suspected Kuni doing black magic. The two minors planned to eliminate Kuni and accordingly, they barged into her house last night. The duo killed Kuni with an axe at her house.

After receiving information, the police reached the spot and sent the body for postmortem. The two minors were detained and the axe used in the murder was seized.
