Malkangiri, Nov 6:
Two more children succumbed to Japanese Encephalitis (JE) at the district headquarters hospital of Odisha’s Malkangiri today while undergoing treatment, taking the death toll in the dreaded vector-borne disease to 95 within the last 58 days in the district this season.

The deceased have been identified as Priya Khara (2)of Tulibeda village of Korukonda block and Basanti Jani (2) of Kumutiguda in the district, reports said.
A 12-member team including seven experts of the state Health department and the Centre is on a visit to the district since yesterday to take stock of the situation.
The team has visited Daniguda, Badali, Palakonda and Doriguda villages in four groups for a ground survey.
Notably, on Saturday, two girl children— Debika Pujari (2) of Chitapari village under Korukonda block and Shalini Khara (2) of Kandel village under Kudumulgumma block and a two-year-old boy Adama Mutaki of Motu village under Padia block died.
Meanwhile, the Malkangiri District Adivasi Samaj Mahasangh has called for a bandh on November 8 on the issue. The Mahasangh will also hold a massive rally in front of the district collectorate on November 9 to highlight the issue, reports said.
