Balangir: Two more persons from Balangir district today tested positive for COVID-19 taking the district tally to six.

Balangir Collector Arindam Dakua informed the two new cases are Bandhapada panchayat under Puintala block. “They are Surat returnees and were staying in quarantine centres. Contact tracing is on,” he said, adding that the two persons have been sent to KIMS COVID-19 hospital in Bhubaneswar.

Swab samples of persons who came in contact with the two new positive cases will be sent for tests tomorrow, the Collector said.

Containment order in Tusra- Deogaon area is withdrawn after samples collected from the area tested negative, he said.

As three trains carrying Odisha migrants from different parts of the country will reach Balangir station tomorrow, the district administration have made arrangements to take them to different blocks, Dakua said.

“Keeping the scheduled arrival of the trains, the district administration imposed Section 144 in Balangir town from 4 am to 11 pm tomorrow,” he informed.
