Two more Odisha journalists succumb to COVID-19

Berhampur: With COVID-19 spreading its wings across the State in second wave, two more journalists succumbed to the deadly virus in Ganjam district.

The young two deceased media persons were Govinda Behera and Manoj Kumar Sahoo.

While Govinda Behera (25) was working with a news portal ‘News 6’ as the Block Correspondent in Kukudakhandi, Manoj Sahoo was the Correspondent of Odia daily ‘Nitidin’ at Chikiti.

According to reports, Govinda Behera was ailing since a past few days for which he was in self-quarantine as part of precaution. As his health condition did not improve, he underwent COVID-19 test on Tuesday. After his test report came positive for the virus, he was immediately admitted to the MKCG Medical College & Hospital in Berhampur. Suddenly, his oxygen level dropped and he died at around 3.00 AM on Friday.

His father Kandha Behera and uncle Kamaraju were also undergoing treatment at the same state-run hospital after being infected with COVID-19. Fifteen minutes after his death, uncle Kamaraju also passed away due to the virus.

On the other hand, journalist Manoj Sahoo died of Coronavirus yesterday. The resident of Chikiti had complained of breathlessness on Tuesday. He was rushed to the MKCG COVID Hospital on Thursday night for treatment. However, he lost to the battle against COVID on Friday.
