Two more units of Odisha’s largest thermal power plant inaugurated

Jharsuguda: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today inaugurated two more units of Ib Thermal Power Station (ITPS) owned by Odisha Power Generation Corporation (OPGC) at Banharpali in Jharsuguda district today.

During his one-day visit to the district, Patnaik inaugurated the third and fourth units of the ITPS and said the 1320 MW thermal power project with an investment of Rs 15,000 crore will supply electricity for next 25 years.

He said “Odisha has created a history in power generation. Every household in all villages across the State have access to electricity. Once commissioned, the two new thermal units, developed with an investment of Rs 15,000 crore, will ensure smooth supply of electricity for next 25 years.”

Besides, Patnaik inaugurated a coal mine at Manoharpur in Sundergarh district through video conference. He further informed that the State Government plans to construct a new railway line on its own to supply raw materials from the Manoharpur coal mines to OPGC.
