Two notorious criminals injured in encounter in Odisha’s Cuttack

Cuttack: Two notorious criminals were injured in an encounter by Commissionerate Police near Kuakhai River bridge here this morning.

The criminals identified as Sudhakar Patra alias Lipu and Manoj Mohapatra alias Mangu sustained bullet injuries and were admitted to SCB Medical College & Hospital.

Police seized two pistols, 15 rounds of live bullets and 10 mobile phones from their possession.

The two were most wanted in connection with Pratapnagari firing incident in which three youths were injured on March 4, on Holi.

According to reports, based on information about movement of Lipu and Mangu under Sadar police limits, a police team launched operation to nab the culprits. The police personnel suddenly raided the spot at around 3 am and opened fire at them.

Police had been searching for the two since Holi celebrations. They were accused of firing at youths during feast at a ground at Pratapnagari on the auspicious occasion. Three youths were injured during the incident.
