Two persons in guise of servitors enter Gundicha Temple in Puri; detained

Puri: Two persons were detained for allegedly entering into the Gundicha Temple in guise of servitors of Lord Jagannath in Puri today.

The arrested duo has been identified as residents of Kumbharpada and Markandeswar Sahi localities in Puri town.

Source said that two persons posing as servitors had entered into the temple in the morning. The accused duo had also holy darshan of the Chaturdhamurti on Adapa Mandap during Mangala Alati of deities.

Following opposition of other servitors, the accused were detained by police. They were taken to the Kumbharpada Police Station for interrogation.

Worth mentioning, entry into the shrine for devotees is strictly prohibited due to possible spread of COVID-19.

The security lapses raised question as to how the unknown persons in guise of servitors entered into the shrine despite restrictions enforced by district administration at the Gundicha Temple during Ratha Jatra.
