Two pilots of Indian Air Force killed as MiG-21 aircraft crashes near Barmer in Rajasthan

Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, two pilots of the Indian Air Force died as a MiG-21 trainer aircraft crashed near Barmer in Rajasthan, today.

The mishap took place at 9:10 pm during a training sortie. The two pilots sustained fatal injuries and died.

A Court of Inquiry has been ordered by the Indian Air Force to ascertain the cause of the accident.

“At 9:10 pm this evening, an IAF MiG 21 trainer aircraft met with an accident in the western sector during a training sortie. Both pilots sustained fatal injuries. IAF deeply regrets the loss of lives and stands firmly with the bereaved families. A Court of Inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the accident,” the Indian Air Force said in a statement.
