Two senior Odisha cadre IPS officers report fake FB accounts on their names
Bhubaneswar: Beware of messages on social media especially Facebook from celebrities, well-known personalities or senior government officials asking for money or other kind of favours. People could fall prey to such fake accounts and get defrauded.
Twin City Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi today requested Facebook users not to become victims of such a fake account which is using his photo and other details and asking for money.
“Please do not respond to any message sent from any FB account that uses my photo and requests for money. That is not my account and not any message from me. FYI,” Sarangi wrote on a Facebook post.
In a statement, the Commissionerate Police said, “The CP’s FB profile and page go by the I’d SarangiSudhanshu. They have not been hacked. However, anyone can use any one’s photo to create a new FB account. So, when such a suspicious activity was reported, he has alerted all his FB Friends.”
Earlier in the day, Odisha Police DIG Anup Kumar Sahoo issued similar kind of message on Facebook and cautioned social media users against fake accounts using his picture and details.
