Two siblings ‘kidnapped’ at gun point in Ganjam; Odisha police clears air

Ganjam: A few hours after two siblings were allegedly abducted by miscreants in Ganjam, police today cleared the air in the case.

Ruling out kidnapping, Ganjam police clarified that the duo has been taken into police custody in Visakhapatnam by the Karnataka police.

“Ganjam police teams have reached in Visakhapatnam where Karnataka Police officials were present with the two persons of Ganjam PS area. All have gone to the local police station at Visakhapatnam for further paperwork,” Ganjam police stated today without revealing details about the case in which the two siblings were picked up by other state police.

According to reports, Krushna Chandra Sahoo (50) and Panchanan Sahoo (44) were abducted at a gun point by two car-borne miscreants from their shop at Puintala Chhak under Ganjam police limits last night.

The locals alleged that some miscreants picked up two siblings at around 10.15 pm on Friday and moved towards Bhubaneswar.

They informed the Ganjam police about the incident. Reacting to the matter, other businessmen in the area staged protest by blocking the high way demanding immediate arrest of the miscreants.

Following the incident, the Ganjam police initiated an investigation to trace the abducted siblings.

During preliminary investigation, police found that the two siblings were not kidnapped, rather they were taken by Karnataka police to Visakhapatnam.
