Sonepur: Two staff of the Subarnapur District Headquarters Hospital were suspended and one was dismissed today for allegedly taking bribe from patients. Acting as per the directive of Subarnapur District Collector Manisha Banerjee, Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) Dilip Panda took the disciplinary action against the three employees of the hospital.

The suspended staff were Staff Nurse Bhagabati Saa and Sweeper Kaushalya Bag whereas the contractual sweeper Sasmita Moharana has been sacked.

On December 27 evening, these three staff demanded money from 15 pregnant women admitted to the hospital. The women paid the money and later revealed the details before the media.

Taking note of the media reports and video on social media in connection with the matter, the District Collector this evening visited the hospital and talked to the 15 women patients. After finding truth behind the allegations, the Collector directed the CDMO to take action against the three staff of the hospital.
