Bhubaneswar: Two patients died of suspected dengue virus in Bhubaneswar in past two days, according to reports.

While a 62-year-old woman succumbed to dengue at the Capital Hospital, the mosquito-borne viral disease reportedly claimed a 6-YO baby's life at AMRI Hospital in Bhubaneswar.

However, the government is yet to confirm the deaths due to dengue.

"Two suspected dengue deaths were reported in two days in Bhubaneswar, one from the Capital Hospital and another from the AMRI Hospital. However, we are yet to receive any report on dengue death from the Capital Hospital. We have sent a team to the AMRI Hospital for verification. It will be clear following the audit," informed Odisha Public Health Director Niranjan Mishra today.

While total 553 patients have been detected with dengue positive cases across Odisha so far, with alone 336 cases, Khordha district has become the hotspot of dengue. Of total case, more than 200 have been reported from Bhubaneswar.

At present, 26 dengue patients are undergoing treatment at the Capital Hospital. Every day, 4-5 patients get admitted to the state-run hospital and recover from disease. As many as 80 patients undergo dengue test every day at the hospital. However, no death due to dengue has been confirmed yet, informed Capital Hospital Director Dr. Laxmidhar Sahoo.
