Two VSSUT professors suspended, another dismissed for protest against VC

Bhubaneswar: Taking disciplinary action, Governor and Chancellor of Universities Prof Ganeshi Lal today suspended two professors of Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) and dismissed another for launching a protest demanding ouster of varsity’s Vice-Chancellor Atal Choudhuri.

Reportedly, the Government sacked Prof TR Das and suspended lecturers-Dr Pandav Patra and Dr Pradeep Das-for their involvement in the agitation against the VC. The Governor also served a show-cause notice to 15 agitating teachers of the university asking them to submit a reply by August 17.

The action was taken on the basis of recommendations by the Department of Skill Development and Technical Education.

Worth mentioning, faculty members of the university have been staging a protest since July 17 demanding ouster of the VC alleging his lackadaisical attitude towards development of the varsity.

They had alleged that no developmental work has been done in the varsity ever since Choudhuri joined as its VC in January 2018.
