Two women drown while taking bath in pond in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj

Baripada: Two women reportedly met watery grave while taking bath in a village pond in Morada area of Mayurbhanj district today afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Jamuna Hansda (50) and Salage Hansda (50) from Matunda village under Morada police limits.

After attending the SHG meeting at around 2 pm, the two women went to the village pond to take bath. However, a delay in their return to home prompted family members of the duo to make a frantic search.

The family members found clothes and other items of the two women near the pond. Suspecting the two women drowned in the pond, some villagers entered the water and searched for the duo.

The two women were fished out in unconscious state and admitted to the Betanoti Community Health Centre where doctors declared them brought dead.

Police have registered a case of unnatural death and sent the bodies to PRM Medical College and Hospital in Baripada for postmortem.
