Two youths impersonating cops to extort money held in Odisha Capital

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police today arrested two youths on charges of extorting money from truck drivers while posing as police personnel in Bhubaneswar.

After the video of the two youths demanding money from truck drivers on the National Highway-16 went viral on social media, the police swung into action and nabbed the accused.

The two youths have been identified as Soumya Ranjan Rout alias Somu (29) and Chandra Sekhar Das from Laxmipur Basti in Chandrasekharpur.

Also, the Commissionerate Police seized an Innova vehicle with a yellow beacon atop it from the possession of the two accused.

A case under Section 419/384/34 of IPC was registered at Nayapalli police station and investigation is on, sources said.
