Two youths injured in firing by miscreants on NH-16 in Odisha’s Balasore

Balasore: Two bike-borne miscreants allegedly fired shots and attempted to loot cash from two motorcyclists on National Highway-16 in Odisha’s Balasore district today evening.

In the firing the two motorcyclists were injured. One of them has been admitted to the SCB Hospital in Cuttack while the other one is undergoing treatment at the local hospital. One of the injured has been identified as Rajkishore from Rajkanika area of Kendrapara district whereas the other one’s identity is yet to be ascertained.

As per reports, the two motorcyclists carrying Rs 2 lakh in a bag were going towards Bhadrak from Balasore. Riding another motorcycle the two miscreants intercepted them near Khanagar and tried to snatch the bag containing cash. As the two motorcyclist opposed the loot bid, the miscreants  opened fire at them.

Despite being injured in the firing, the two youths drove speedily for eight kms towards Shearagada toll gate. But they were chased by the miscreants on the other motorcycle.

To save their lives, the two youths kept their motorcycle near the toll gate and ran towards the office of a Jatra Troupe neaby. As the miscreants could not find the two youths, they fled the spot.

Eyewitnesses said even though police personnel of Sheragada Police Outpost and toll staff were present at the spot, no one was able to nab the two miscreants.
