Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: National highway projects which are underway in Odisha will be expedited and completed soon, assured the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari today to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan during an official meeting in New Delhi.

After the meeting was over, Minister Pradhan informed mediapersons that they reviewed the progress of Cuttack-Sambalpur national highway project, coastal highway, Sambalpur Ring Road and another ring road in the State Capital. The two also discussed the ongoing expansion work of NH-53 passing through Bhuban and Kamakhyanagar stretching from Duburi up to Balhar Chhak of Dhenkanal district, including expansion of the national highway from Godibandha up to Banarpal and a few others.

Problems pertaining to environment clearance, floating of tenders and alignment issues were reviewed. Roadway infrastructure is being strengthened in Odisha in conformity with Mission Purvodaya of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Several senior officials of the Road Transport and Highways Ministry and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) took part in the review meeting.
